Quality Control for Leather Surface Finishing
Quality criteria should be defined around the approved product, material, construction and cosmetic reference. The applicable inspection points depend on the project.
Typical project-defined checks
Incoming appearance
Material color, texture, surface condition and approved reference where specified.
Surface finish
Alignment, wrinkles, bubbles, visible adhesive and other agreed cosmetic points.
Stitching
Line position, spacing, tension appearance and thread consistency where stitching applies.
Edges
Edge alignment, coating appearance and transitions where edge painting applies.
Bonding & fit
Adhesion-related and assembly-fit checks when they are part of the agreed requirement.
Final packing
Surface protection, quantity and agreed packing configuration before shipment.
Define the acceptance standard early
Leather and PU are visual materials that can show natural or manufacturing variation. Buyers should provide color, grain, gloss, texture and defect references where those points are critical. Measurement methods and pass/fail boundaries should be agreed rather than assumed.
Market-specific laboratory testing or certification is not implied by production inspection. Include REACH, RoHS, California Prop 65, automotive or customer-specific requirements in the RFQ for a project-level discussion.
