Custom Leather Covering for Product Surfaces
Leather covering places a prepared leather or PU skin over a decorative surface or shaped structure. It is used when a product needs a tactile finish, a coordinated material surface or a refined visual treatment.
Where leather covering may be suitable
Potential applications include decorative panels, rigid boxes, trays, cases, desk accessories and shaped components. A review is required where a part has tight radii, deep recesses, moving interfaces or restricted assembly tolerances.
Covering method depends on structure
- Surface preparation and adhesive compatibility
- Pattern development and material yield
- Grain direction and color consistency
- Seam and overlap position
- Corner relief and edge termination
- Assembly protection and cosmetic inspection
Leather covering vs. leather wrapping
The terms can overlap. “Covering” often describes applying material to a defined face or decorative structure, while “wrapping” often involves carrying material around edges, corners or a three-dimensional form. For production planning, the part geometry matters more than the label.
Send the product information and we will evaluate whether wrapping, covering, hot pressing or a combination better matches the design.
